West Virginia Passes Anti-Discrimination Legislation
During the recent legislative session in West Virginia, the West Virginia Housing Institute was able to pass legislation making it unlawful to discriminate against manufactured housing for the entire state. Below is the language of that Bill: Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia: That Section 8A-11-1 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:

State-wide T.V. Ad Campaign to Run
The semi-annual state-wide television ad campaign produced by VAMMHA will air the last three weeks in May of this year. This year’s campaign will feature all sizes and styles of manufactured and modular homes in Virginia. Our photographer will tour the state the first week in April (hopefully the grass will be green and the flowers and trees out by then) to take still and video pictures of homes in Virginia for the ads. The campaign will be followed by an 800 number and each caller will receive a list from VAMMHA with the retailers within a 50 mile radius of their home. Additionally, as in the past, retailers will be sent a list of everyone that calls the 800 number. Listed below are the television stations that will be airing the commercials:
Virginia Manufactured Housing Board
Curtis McIver, DHCD While we are having the new Regulations printed, we are also changing the section numbers in the Regulations to the numbering system used by the Virginia Registrar, referred to as the VAC numbers. If you have any questions about the new numbering system or the effects of the amended definition of a new manufactured home, please contact our office staff. Chapter 430 of the 2005 Acts of the General Assembly amended the definition of a “new manufactured home” in the Code of Virginia. Based on that legislative change, the Board has been going through the Administrative Procedures Act to amend the Virginia Manufactured Housing Licensing and Transaction Recovery Fund Regulations. Those amendments will become effective on April 12, 2006. The amendment, with the added language underlined, is as follows:
RESTRICTIVE COVENANT BASICS
John Rick, Esq.
“Show Me The Money!”
