Chairman's Letter
Oct. 2006
There is an old adage that there is "strength in numbers" and it is one that I wholly agree with. Translated practically to VAMMHA, the more members we have, the more political and marketplace strength we have. At just about every VAMMHA Board Meeting that I have attended adding members isa topic of conversation. We have tried many various strategies to increase our membership, with some success. However I knowwe can do better. I know she doesn't seek attention but for those of you that didn't know, Cindy Tomlin was voted Board Member of the Year last year. One of the primary reasons (and there are many) why Cindy won is that she singled handily got over 10 members to join VAMMHA. How did she accomplish this? She basically informed her vendors that she did business with that if they wanted to continue to earn her business they would join VAMMHA. Just think if every current member of VAMMHA followed Cindy's lead and all the subcontractors, banks and suppliers that make a profit off this industry joined how much stronger VAMMHA would be. I agree with the saying "Remember, When You Need Something Ask A Member First", however I would take it step further and state that " "Remember When You AreConducting Business Insist On Doing It With A VAMMHA Member".
